Cane couch rebirth.

My cane couch is one of those things that has been with me FOREVER. It was one of the first pieces of furniture I bought ... way back when ... when cream Indian cotton was de rigueur for cane couch covers. My cane couch was trendy ... at the time.

And so the Book Club weekend adventures continue.

Bit like a soap opera saga or The Block isn't it?

"Watch tomorrow night for room reveal" or "Like sand through the hour glass, so are the days of our lives."

Well, regardless, let's continue the adventures together, shall we?

My flowers this week.

Sometimes the flower God is smiling and this week was one of those weeks. Anyone know the name of the flower God? Florence ... maybe?

Anyway, as I did a quick flit through Woolieworths for a few dinner goodies earlier this week, I thought, "Flowers. I need flowers. I've one poor fragile yellow bloom left from last week's bunch. I need flowers. I have to maintain my New Year's resolution."

So, I grab my bunch and head to the self-serve check out.

And ... $4!

Yep, $4!

The huge bunch that I had selected was $4! I was expecting around $15, but no, $4, just $4.

Amazing.

I was so overwhelmed I had a short chat with the self-serve check out supervisor.

"Yep," she said. "I couldn't believe the price when they came in this morning."

So, these aren't flowers on their last legs ... stems ... left over because no-one thought they were beautiful. These are fresh flowers.

Fresh.

Fragrant.

Beautiful.

For $4!!!!

Take a look.

Book Club? Food and wine Club??? Or just an excuse to catch up???

Our Book Club has been evolving since its gestation. The book IS important. Oh yes. But it's not the centre of our universe.

Sometimes we manage an entire 10 minutes about the book ... maybe.

Sometimes we manage to READ the book.

Sometimes we don't.

Sometimes ... well, the food and wine and catching up take precedence.

As they should.

Ottoman transformed.

Having a small orange moggie roaming the house is mostly a joy, BUT there are times when he oversteps his boundaries, like where claws are allowed to be sharpened.

On the cane couch? No!

On the furniture?? No!!

On the ottoman??? No!!!

Some of these battles I win; some I lose.

The ottoman was a loss.

A total-absolute-complete-utter win for the bad, furry orange guy; total-absolute-complete-utter loss for me!
